- Account Information: Name, email address, profile photo (if provided via Facebook login or manual upload).
- Location Data: With your permission, we collect your device's location to show nearby items and calculate distances. You can revoke location permissions at any time.
- Payment Information: Payment details are collected and processed by Stripe. bRent does not store your full credit card number.
- Usage Data: Search history, items viewed, and interactions within the App to improve your experience.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and push notification tokens for delivering notifications.
- Photos: Condition photos uploaded during pickup and return as part of the Stewardship Report feature.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To facilitate rental transactions between users.
- To process payments and payouts via Stripe.
- To send push notifications about loan status changes, messages, and reminders.
- To display nearby items and calculate distances.
- To resolve disputes using condition photos and transaction records.
- To improve the App and develop new features.
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with:
- Other Users: Your name, profile photo, and ratings are visible to other users. Your exact address is never shared; only approximate distances are shown.
- Stripe: Payment and payout processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase: Database hosting and authentication. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Expo: Push notification delivery. Subject to Expo's Privacy Policy.
- Law Enforcement: When required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS).
- Row-Level Security (RLS) on all database tables via Supabase.
- Secure authentication via Supabase Auth with JWT tokens.
- Stripe webhook signature verification for payment events.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data by viewing your profile in the App.
- Update your account information at any time.
- Delete your account and associated data by contacting us.
- Opt out of push notifications via your device settings.
- Revoke location permissions at any time via your device settings.
For California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Transaction records and condition photos are retained for dispute resolution purposes for up to 12 months after a rental is completed.
7. Children's Privacy
bRent is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will promptly delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App or email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
